Aladdin’s Cave

A selection of Africa’s top designers were brought together for the DNA/PACE fair, an exclusive collaborative showcase, held from 24-27 September at Market on Main in Johannesburg.

Market on Main’s industrial setting became a hot backdrop for Africa’s top designers. The place was an Aladdin’s cave of jewelry, glass, chairs, tables, cabinets, flatware, bowls, fabric, lamps, handbags and a manner of other collectables. Africa’s first and leading contemporary design show, a hub of creative talent from all over our continent and now a key event in the event calendar.

It brought together 30 inspiring designers from 15 African countries, for the first time, under one roof. The aim is to develop and grow each designer and their product and to establish Africa’s only contemporary design fair. The 2011 show is now closed, it was a great success with designers delighted with the quality of the visitors and the visitors themselves enthusing about the show’s look and products. Adam Levin has announced that the SPAZA pop up Shop that Imagine Nation set up for the event will become permanent at Market on Main and many of the designers who brought their pieces here have left them, so if you missed it, join Adam and his team next Sunday at Market on Main, top level.
